Thought you would be interested to see the photos below,
of yourself, along with myself, and my working 1958 Dansette Transistor radio,
in the Ha'penny Pier Exhibition at Harwich on Friday 10th August 2007. If you
wish, I can try to re-send the pictures as proper attachments, but I'm not sure
if the BBC computer would accept them or not.
The Dansette Radio pictured continues to serve
me well. It covers longwave and mediumwave, and since I can get a good reception
of BBC Radio Kent on 774 AM/mw (387 meters!) here in Ipswich, I am listening to
you on the pictured radio right now!
I had thought that since Pirate BBC Essex was so
successful, it would surely seem a good idea for them to have another Pirate
presenter on their schedules. Would it be possible do you think for them to
relay your Saturday show on their AM 729, 765 and 1530 mediumwave frequencies -
this would greatly improve reception for your listeners in many parts of East
Anglia. (While their FM outlet could of course continue with the programme it
currently has, meaning no one loses out) Just a thought! I know you are online,
but portable reception is somewhat more convenient, and during the Winter
months, BBC Kent Reception in East Anglia becomes unreceivable during the
Evenings :(
Finally, at 9pm every Sunday Evening on BBC Radio for the
Eastern Counties, Keith Skues presents a show themed on the Pirate stations,
including music from the 1960's, along with vintage jingles and commercials. The
show can be heard online at http://www.bbc.co.uk/norfolk/ Alternatively, it
can also be picked up via BBC Essex, which can be heard in some parts of your
area via 765 mw. Not forgetting that the real Radio Caroline lives on at
www.radiocaroline.co.uk, or on Sky Channel
0199!
Keep up the good work,
Chris Brisland,
